Just today, I had a client tell me that they sailed Royal Caribbean in the past, but they really noticed a lack of food outside of meal times. When I sailed on the Oasis of the Seas in 2019, I observed the same thing. Since we have a background in sailing with Carnival, perhaps we both thought that the Windjammer Cafe would be the late night place to go to, because that’s the equivalent to Carnival’s Lido restaurants and buffet in our minds. While researching this blog article, I found out that Royal Caribbean does have a Cafe Promenade, which offers snacks, pastries, and sandwiches 24/7. Like I’ve said many times, in the travel business you learn something new every day!
Getting back to the point of this post, Carnival has been known for its 24 hour availability of pizza and ice cream. Lately due to food waste issues, Carnival is no longer serving pizza between 4AM and 9AM, while the soft serve ice cream station closes between midnight and 11AM.
Personally, I rarely eat anything after 1AM during a cruise, so these cuts don’t affect me quite as much as other people. I’ve also learned that I tend to gain a pound of weight per day on a cruise if I indulge in every dessert, so I don’t eat much ice cream. But let’s say that it’s after 11PM and you’re hungry for something more than just pizza. Enter Carnival’s new late night snack menu.
In addition to pizza, Carnival is offering some additional menu items for your enjoyment. The hours that this menu is available varies by ship, so you’ll have to check it out for yourself on your next cruise if you happen to have a late night craving.
The menu has something for everyone, including vegetarians, carnivores, picky eaters, and those with a sweet tooth.
